Pantograph began in 2009 as a faithful recreation of a standard typeface from the British pantograph sign engraving system – a mechanical marvel that used parallel linkages to duplicate and scale letters for industrial signage.
These mechanical letters populate our urban landscape, warning of dangers and declaring load limits with utilitarian authority. After more than a decade of development, the original single style evolved into a comprehensive family that spans five widths – from Compressed to Extended – and five weights – from Light to Bold.
The design maintains its industrial heritage while offering contemporary features, stylistic alternates, and an extensive set of marks and symbols, making it as versatile in digital environments as its predecessor was in physical space.
